Let’s talk facts! It’s never okay to permit ANYONE to set nor violate your boundaries.
I know it’s easier said than done. I’m guilty of it myself. But it’s our duty to set guidelines, standards, limitations, and safe permissible ways for others to treat us.
A lot of times we as people move so fast in friendships and relationships. That we don’t realize that we have given others the greenlight to dictate what pace we move at and what direction we move in. It’s as if we are puppets being stringed along at someone else’s discretion.
It’s okay to pump your brakes, slow down, change your mind, and regain focus. There is nothing wrong with taking your time getting to know an individual and giving them the benefit of the doubt while they earn your trust, let’s keep in mind not everyone is trustworthy. This goes for family as well because at times family are the first to take advantage of you and exceed your boundaries.
Some people are intimidated by boundaries just for the simple fact that they have none of their own. People will walk all over you if you fail to set personal values, display self-respect, clearly voice your wants and needs, allow them to dismiss your opinion and disregard your feelings. The very first time you allow someone to invade your personal space you can rest assured that they will continue to.
Stand your ground and hold yourself to high regard. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying to be arrogant or to think that you are better than the next person, but what I am saying is you don’t have to settle for whatever life throws at you and not only is it okay but it’s a must that we draw a line somewhere.
I have a question for you. Yes, if you are reading this, I’m talking to you. How do you measure your self-worth? Is it by your physical appearance, how much money you make, how successful you are, what kind of car you drive, your intelligence level, how many likes you get on social media, how others view you, what others say about you, or is it a combination of all or a few things listed above? Be honest with yourself!
If you are a person of any substance this is a difficult question to answer. Well let me speak for myself. Because it took me some time and thought to come up with an answer. I had to come from two different elements and perspectives. Now if I’m speaking from my flesh, my shallow surface, and visualizing with the human eye. That place where all my superficialities and insecurities dwell. Then I must say that I have and still do measure my self-worth by a few items listed above. Now if I speak from the center of my essence, that God given place, the pit of my belly where my heart and soul breathe. I would say that I measure my self-worth by my integrity, my honesty, my compassion, my gratitude, my self-love and the love that I have for others, my mindfulness, my diversity, my forgiveness, my generosity, my balance, my precise vision of who I am, by knowing what I have to offer, my characteristics, my thought process, by all that is good in me, but most of all I measure my self-worth by the GOD in me!
“If loving me is wrong I don’t want to be right”
You can call it selfish if you like. But I don’t see anything wrong with ducking off and falling back from people and the rest of the world, for the betterment of your mind, body, and soul. At times it’s necessary to take time out to replenish, refresh, and reset your spirit. Sometimes we get so caught up in the world and caring for others that we forget to pour into ourselves. We forget to give our bodies proper rest, exercise and nutrients.
Everyday life can be demanding! The mind is always on the go, so we often overlook the symptoms of frustration, depression, feeling depleted, drained and sluggish.
Those are the signs that you need to STOP! Detox give your brain and spirit a break! Meditate, pray, let go of the toxic things that consume you, eliminate all negative energy, and remove all the impurities and waste that lingers and jeopardizes your healthy place. This is a crucial moment. A time when it’s vital that you start speaking life and fruitfulness into your spirit and fill yourself with peace and positive energy!
